I recently purchased a mixed breed (chihuahua x toy foxy) and I was amazed at the animosity, even contempt people have toward crossbreeds (mutts ; a term I am not fond of).
Trawling through the internet looking for information to assist me, I was bombarded with hate.
Supercilious individuals preaching the importance of purebred dogs ; one person remarked "why would you bring a mutt into this world?". Idiot. These clear lines they crave, resulting from years of interbreeding... yet two different breeds procreating can't happen? Ugh. Why would I pay 3k for a dog that will end up with a heart disease or arthritus and cost me even more? In my experience crossbred dogs are loyal, extremely well tempered and adorable. I have no problem with people buying purebreeds because they love the breed and it's characteristics, but when you criticise my pup and you've never even seen him; then I have a problem. If you have to rely on your dog to communicate your status, you shouldn't have a dog... get a louis vuitton...
